Where it all began

The foundation for our eco-conscious park was laid early on. In 1968, the dream began with the purchase of a farm and 10 hectares of pastureland. Just a year later, in 1969, the iconic Swimming Lake was excavated. From that moment on, recreation in and with nature has been central. It formed the foundation for a park where the environment and nature are of extraordinary importance, something we want to make noticeable and tangible for all our guests!

Did you know that the sand released during the excavation of the Swimming Lake was reused for the construction of a nearby highway? In this way, enormous savings were made on transport costs and CO2 emissions during construction.

The sun as a heater

Back in the 1990s, we discovered how to make smart use of nature. In 1990, Strandpaviljoen "De Wijde Blick" opened, housing the covered SterrenStrand. Thanks to the unique greenhouse construction with lots of glass, this is a major source of solar energy: the beach pool heats itself entirely using the sun and requires no additional heating! In 1996, another major step followed: all toilet buildings were equipped with solar collectors. This allows us to heat the water in an environmentally friendly way and generate enough energy in the winter to keep the buildings frost-free.

Years full of green steps across the entire park

• The newest buildings are gas-free, have a 'very high insulation value', use (air) heat pumps for hot water, and feature efficient infrared heating. In the toilet building at pitch 32, a heat pump utilizes geothermal energy for the building and water. Our newest toilet building even features a roof covered in plants and mosses for an optimal, natural indoor climate!
• There are solar panels on the roof of "De Wijde Blick" and we sustainably heat the indoor swimming pool using solar panels.
• We use energy-efficient lighting with twilight and motion sensors throughout. Our staff drive 100% electric golf carts and service vehicles. For new construction and renovations, we use sustainable, circular materials, and waste is strictly separated throughout the entire site.

The new standard

• The PanoramaChalets blend perfectly into the surroundings thanks to natural materials such as a cork facade and a sedum roof. They are equipped with solar panels combined with a battery for smart power storage and are efficiently heated by infrared panels.
• We extend this green approach to our facilities as well! Our newest building, De Brinck, is constructed with high-quality materials that last extra long. Naturally, the building is completely gas-free, generates electricity via its own solar panels, and here too, the toilets are flushed using rainwater in an environmentally friendly way.
• Our children's private sanitary camping pitches complete the picture: these units are completely gas-free and are heated by an energy-efficient heat pump, ensuring that even the youngest campers can shower comfortably and in an environmentally friendly manner.

These innovative accommodations are designed to blend perfectly into their surroundings and minimize environmental impact. Every detail has been considered, and we are proud of our collaboration with Alius from Eersel, a specialist who played a crucial role in advising on and supplying the sustainable energy systems for this project.

• Thanks to the unique cork facade and the green sedum roof (moss roof), the chalet blends seamlessly into the greenery. This living roof is a paradise for insects and provides such good insulation that hardly any energy is needed for cooling or heating.
• The chalets generate a massive amount of electricity via 18 solar panels and store it in a smart battery. Even efficient infrared heating runs on this. Do we generate more than we use? Then you can even use the surplus to charge an electric car at the private charging station. In theory, these cottages can operate completely 'off-grid'!
• Clean drinking water is precious. That is why a large, smart water bag is hidden under the veranda. This system collects rainwater to flush the toilet, saving as much as 10 liters of drinking water per flush.
